On Top Of Your World – Birchbox

Hello Birchboxers!

‘It’s September – the month of new beginnings. For you, that might mean streamlining your beauty stash or kick-starting more productive habits at home, work or play. However you choose to embrace a fresh start, we’re here to help you make those little changes that’ll leave you feeling On Top Of Your World. But, first, it’s time to discover your new beauty treats…’

The design of this month’s box is possibly the prettiest I’ve received. I love the metallic silver touches on it. The theme does kind of match the products this time, the last two month’s I haven’t quite felt had enough of a running theme. I am a little surprised they didn’t go with a more back to school theme.

Benefit Box O’ Powder (Gold Rush)

‘Like sunshine in a box, reach for this golden-nectar blush when your complexion is in need of a pick-me-up. The luxurious honey shade is infused with delicate golden flecks to brighten skin for the lit-from-within glow. Simply sweep onto your cheeks for a natural-looking flush. Bonus: it smells divine!’

My everyday makeup is almost a full face of Benefit products, so it shouldn’t really be a surprise that I love this little blush. It helps that the sample packaging is adorable! I actually don’t mind getting sample sizes of products. I love that I can just throw them in any handbag when I actually do leave the house. The blush itself is a deep peach shade, it applies easily with a whole lot of pigment and does smell incredible.

Eyeko Brow Liner

‘Say goodbye to regular brow pencils and hello to this innovative liquid brow liner! Use the precision brush to instantly draw on individual ‘hairs’, exactly where you want them, for natural definition. The easy-to-use formula allows you to build up colour for a subtle, water-resistant finish and long-lasting shape.’

Okay, I don’t like being negative about brands or products, but this is the third item I have received from Eyeko and they really aren’t for me. Firstly, this doesn’t match my hair or eyebrow colour. It’s in shade medium, which is just a soft black. My hair is a medium brown. Secondly, it doesn’t last long at all. One slight rub with my finger and it’s gone despite it claiming to be water resistant. Sadly, after testing the liners too it’s highly unlikely I will be purchasing from this brand.

Marcelle Moisturizing Emulsion

‘Protect your skin from the effects of pollution (like dullness, dehydration and irritation) with this daily moisturiser. Using CityGround – a complex that acts to shield your skin – it’s cruelty-free formula provides long-lasting hydration and visibly brightens. Apply morning and night for a fresh, healthy complexion.’

To me, this reminds me of a mix of E45 cream and Sudocrem. It doesn’t have any particular smell and was absorbed into my skin quickly. I think if you were looking for a subtle hydrating moisturiser, that is gentle on your skin then this would do the job perfectly.

NUXE Dry Oil Shimmer

‘Work a few drops of this gold-flecked oil into your arms, legs and decolletage for a beautifully subtle shimmer. Enriched with Vitamin E and 6 precious botanical oils, skin is left silky smooth and radiant. Looking for eye-catching locks? Work a little through the lengths of your hair to hydrate and add shine.’

I’m not sure if I am ever going to use this oil. The shimmer is not very obvious and would maybe work better in the summer months as it only shines slightly in the light and not for very long. The smell isn’t strong, so all in all the product, apart from the nice packaging, is lacking for me.

Klorane Nourishing Conditioner

‘This mango-infused conditioner nourishes and repairs hair from the inside out. The moisturising and detangling formula helps to improve softness and shine – not to mention its gorgeous fruity smell! Plus, it’s free from sulphates, parabens, and silicones to keep your strands feeling healthy and happy.’

As I have said before I usually open my Birchbox with my fiance and this is the first product he’s ever asked to use. He loves mango and said this smells like of his favourite yoghurts. I’d have to agree and I wish this had come with a matching shampoo to use too.

I’m impressed with this month’s box. The past couple have been rather middle of the road and seemed more like filler boxes than anything with a general theme behind it. This month has happily restored my love in Birchbox.

I, FINALLY, became a Birchbox VIP! I received a gorgeous iridescent makeup bag, which actually kind of matches this month’s box design. I’m thrilled that I made it to VIP and can’t wait to reap the benefits that come with it.

If you’re looking to subscribe to Birchbox click here to receive £5 off of your first box. That’s half price! This also helps me out too.

I’ve seen a few Birchbox snaps on Insta recently and they do seem to have raised their game with this month’s box. The stand out items for me are the Benefit blusher, Nuxe oil, and that amazing looking Mango conditioner, which I’m sure works beautfully. Thank you for sharing and congrats on reaching VIP status too! Xx

I don’t have a subscription to Birchbox (or any subscription box for that matter) so I always love seeing what people get in theirs! I love your photos and the way you’ve formatted the post, too.

I’ve never used any of these products I don’t think! It’s a shame you didn’t like the brow product, I usually like Eyeko for eyeliners. Glad you were happy with the box overall and became a VIP x
