Birchbox Review – June Birchbox UK 5th Birthday

For the month of June Birchbox UK are celebrating their 5th birthday by channeling the most British of occasions, the tea party. This is shown by the fact that the products arrived in a wonderful biscuit tin styled keepsake tin.

I am very much loving the packaging, as the boxes we usually receive every month aren’t really built to last, which disappoints me.

Ella Eden Compact Eyeshadow (Faith)

This month we had a choice between two beautiful Ella Eden mineral eyeshadows, that you can use wet or dry. Julia, a soft sandy fawn that’s great for everyday wear and the shade I finally decided on Faith, a versatile brown warm hue. Faith is surprisingly wonderful, super blendable and highly pigmented. The colour was perfect for me, as not only is the brown shade gorgeous, it has a deep purple undertone which really compliments my green eyes.

Benefit POREfessional Pearl Primer

Okay, firstly this sample size is very very small, you only receive 3ml. However, that small amount was enough for me to know I need to purchase the full size. I have a few dark patches on my face, so the added dose of pink pigment in this primer helped brighten those areas and kept my makeup in place for the whole day.

Number 4 Jour D’Automne Smoothing Balm

This smoothing balm is suitable for most hair types, restoring softness, protecting against heat damage and humidity and minimising frizz. Taming your hair for a soft, touchable and polished look. It smells natural and fresh too. After I used this and dried my hair, my hair was smoothed down without me having to straighten it.

Polaar Velvety Sun Fluid Face & Body

When I receive my Birchbox every month I always go through it with my fiancé and he tested this before I even had a chance. He really liked the smell, which is a very subtle but kind of sweet. It’s a silky sunscreen that doesn’t leave any white residue behind.

Lord & Berry Strobing Highlighter Pencil

A super blendable, vitamin infused pencil for highlighting. I’ve used this on my inner eye corner a couple of times now, it’s a pretty almost champagne shade and blends perfectly with every shade.

Whittard Of Chelsea Teabags

As an extra goodie this month we received 3 delicious teabag blends, Earl Grey, Mango & Bergamot and Lemon & Ginger. These go perfectly with the tea party ‘theme’ of this months box. After all a tea party isn’t complete without a good cuppa.

Honestly, this months box hasn’t been my favourite, it’s not bad and I’ll definitely get a good use of all the products. The tin is a very welcome change. I’m hoping Birchbox do update their boxes soon.

If you’re looking to subscribe to Birchbox click here to receive £5 off of your first box. That’s half price! This also helps me out too.

I’ve been loving the little tin instead of a box. Great post lovely! X

Great review. I have often wanted to get into subscription boxes, but have yet to find one that really appeals to me, and more importantly, one that ships to/within Canada. Even though you didn’t love it this time, I suppose that’s the downside to subscription boxes, it won’t always be stellar each time.
