Oldies, But Goldies – TV Shows

We all have those TV shows we watched way back when that we can still sit down and watch to this day. Here are just a few of them that I’ll never tire of. Let me know what your favourite ‘Oldie, but Goldie’ TV show is in the comments. I’d love to know.

One Tree Hill – 9 Seasons

One Tree Hill follows the lives of half brothers Nathan and Lucas Scott as they travel through high school and college. The two brothers face the ups and downs of relationships and friendships. The pain of loss and love. The joy in family and friends. Lucas and Nathan do not start on the best of terms but through many hard times and struggles find the best in each other. Marriage, divorce, break-ups, birth, and death play a huge role.

The OC – 4 Seasons

Ryan, a teenager from the wrong side of the Chino tracks, finds himself in well-to-do Newport Beach — an enclave of Southern California’s Orange County. Taken in by a lawyer and his family, Ryan winds up in the midst of snarky, wealthy high schoolers and their sun-drenched angst.

Dawsons Creek – 6 Seasons

This drama series chronicles the lives of wannabe filmmaker Dawson Leery, his best friend Joey (female), who has been in love with him since childhood, close friend and slacker Pacey, and new girl next door Jen. Additional friends come and go, feelings change, and Dawson must suffer through growing pains.

Gilmore Girls – 7 Seasons

A dramedy centering around the relationship between a thirtysomething single mother and her teen daughter living in Stars Hollow, Connecticut. Between Lorelai’s relationship with her parents, Rory’s new prep school, and both of their romantic entanglements, there’s plenty of drama to go around.

Sex And The City – 6 Seasons

A sex columnist, Carrie Bradshaw, and her three friends – Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda – explore Manhattan’s dating scene, chronicling the mating habits of single New Yorkers. Not surprisingly, the ladies have a number of beaus throughout the series’ run.

Lost - 2004-2010

Lost – 6 Seasons

The survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 were 1,000 miles off course when they crashed on a lush, mysterious island. Each person possesses a shocking secret, but they’ve got nothing on the island itself, which harbors a monstrous security system, a series of underground bunkers and a group of violent survivalists hidden in the shadows.

Glee – 6 Seasons

Optimistic teacher Will Schuester heads up McKinley High School’s glee club – New Directions – a place where ambitious and talented students can find strength, acceptance and their voice. As the students find themselves, they also enjoy a respite from the harsh realities of life. Mr. Schuester hopes to help the kids in every way he can, and also dreams of taking the group to nationals. As Schuester and the glee club pursue their goal, they face opposition from a conniving cheerleading coach, Sue Sylvester, who tries to sabotage the group at every turn.

Big Love – 5 Seasons

Bill Henrickson seems like a typical suburban husband and father, except for the fact that he has three wives, nine kids and three homes to maintain. The Salt Lake City polygamist has to juggle his families’ needs while overseeing his casino business, fulfilling his political interests and attempting to reconnect with his fundamentalist relatives.

Charmed– 8 Seasons

A group of sisters discover they are witches. Luckily for the world, they’re of the good variety. Banding together in their ancestral home in San Francisco, they work together to fight evil, with each having a specific special power. Although outwardly they are average women, with jobs, relationships and friends, they are also powerful witches, but when they work together, their powers are enhanced. As The Charmed Ones, their destiny is to protect innocents from evil.

Will & Grace – 9 Seasons

In the original eight-season run of this groundbreaking sitcom, best friends Will, a meticulous corporate lawyer, and Grace, a neurotic interior decorator, share a New York apartment after Grace leaves her fiancé at the altar. Will and Grace, along with their pals Karen, an outspoken socialite, and Jack, a free-spirited actor, face the highs and lows of life in Manhattan together. From sex, dating and divorce to cutting cultural commentary, nothing’s off limits and all is fair game.

Friends – 10 Seasons

Three young men and three young women – of the BFF kind – live in the same apartment complex and face life and love in New York. They’re not above sticking their noses into one another’s businesses and swapping romantic partners, which always leads to the kind of hilarity average people will never experience – especially during breakups.

I LOVED the OC!!! It did kinda go a bit downhill when Marissa died though.
I heard they’re bringing back Charmed but I doubt it’ll be anywhere near as good as the original…
And Lost is next on my list to watch as I’ve never really watched it!

It was so good. I haven’t watched it in so so long. One Tree Hill is definitely my favourite. Lost is brilliant, very long winded, but enjoyable. X

OMG, you wrote so many amazing shows! I was obsessed with Charmed, Sex and the City, Lost (well, until the 4th season), and Friends! I have to say that there were a few shows on here that I have never heard of, and others that I never watched. I’m going to definitely add them to my list! Great post Hannah xxx
