I’ve always put so much pressure on getting the gift for my boyfriend perfect, that it’s took the enjoyment out of valentines. Why? Valentine’s Day is one day a year, it’s special because we’ve made it special, it’s not special when you’re running round shops looking for that perfect gift for him that’s going to knock his socks off. When you buy each other gifts all year round it makes it even more difficult.
Instead of all that hassle this year I took a step back and put more thought into a tactic. A tactic that was going to save me money, time and the dread of not finding that specific thing he’s been eyeing up all year.
Short, sweet and easy (rather like myself) get him something he can eat, something he can wear and something he can use. Simple. It doesn’t sound like much, but it for sure helped me.
Something he can eat. This ones pretty obvious and self explanatory. His favourite chocolate bar or some cake. Most shopping markets you go in will have a selection of Valentine’s Day snacks and sweets. I picked up this pack of two chocolate cupcakes with cute little hearts on the frosting from Asda, so I could also enjoy in the treats!
Something he can wear. His favourite aftershave or some new clothes. Either some new tops or shirts for himself, or underwear for you that way you you’re both getting something out of it. I’ve avoided the typical boxers and socks gift, I think he gets enough from his mum at Christmas.
Something he can use. A little something, I’ve bought us new matching trolley buddy key rings, from Home Bargains and a Groot Pocket POP! Keychain. POP funko figures are pretty good all round, as they offer so much variety in characters you can find one for almost anyone in your life. Is he always stealing your headphones and/or chargers. Get him some new of his own, not that that’ll keep him from stealing yours for long, but fills up that little valentine’s bag.
